The group strives to ensure that its product portfolio is continually developed to fulfil the overall strategic vision of BEL.
In order to achieve this aim numerous design engineers are employed who all have access to either Solidworks or Pro Engineer. These CAD systems are further enhanced through the use of both Linear and Non Linear Finite Element Analysis.
In addition to internal resources the company has ongoing relationships with both local universities.
Manufacturing Facilities
The group has continually invested in its production facilities to include a foundry, extensive machine shops, heat treatment and surface finishing equipment, all of which ensure that products can be economically produced to a high standard.
This investment means that today the group has access to:
- Sophisticated manufacturing shops extending to 250,000 sq ft
- Modern and clean assembly and test areas
- CAD/CAM and DNC technology to allow offline programming of Machine Tools
- Surface treatment facilities including carbide coating and electroless nickel plating
- A fully equipped laboratory for material testing and control
The core rationale for this investment has been to ensure that product supply chains are controlled in house where possible, generating an optimum balance of control,quality, reliability and agility.
Quality
All divisions are ISO 9001 certified but additionally a number of specific product quality and customer industry / specific approvals are held.
A full time Quality Manager is employed by the group whose responsibility it is to assist the divisions in continually updating quality systems and ensure existing procedures are adhered to.
In addition to this each division has its own Quality Manager.
