BUSINESS PROFILE

This business was founded prior to 1930 and relocated to its present site in 1964. The division’s activities cover the whole range of materials from SG Iron, Non-Ferrous to a comprehensive range of Steel Castings, enabling a more diversified and complete service to be offered to customers. The major part of the Foundry output comprises of stainless and high alloy, high integrity castings.

In addition to the general production facilities, the foundry contains a well-equipped laboratory, which includes spectrographic analysis, mechanical testing and metallographic examination.

A Solstar computer package is used to predict the solidification characteristics of materials, providing shorter lead times and “right first time” sample castings.

Through its diversified production facilities the division is able to offer customers specialist low volume product covering a wide choice of materials. A machining service for castings is offered by the Foundry in cooperation with Group facilities and other machine shops.

BEL Foundry has built up a reputation for excellence within the industry which allows it to compete in terms of quality and total cost, rather than just the initial unit price.
BEL Foundry utilises a number of moulding techniques including the shell process, which has been adapted so that it is now suitable for low and medium volume production.
Investment in plant better utilises time and production techniques and allows production capabilities to handle castings up to 400kg.
