BEL Mission

People & Employee Development
As an organisation BEL is committed to training and development for all its employees. As well as aiming to ensure that all its employees are trained to carry out their responsibilities effectively and safely, BEL's policy is to encourage all employees to develop themselves to achieve their potential. In addition to promoting a wide range of training and development activities (both on and off the job) BEL actively works to develop and promote internal talent.
The Company has held the Investors in People Award continuously since 1993.
BEL also actively works to promote the development of engineers in the North East of England. In addition to its own very successful apprentice programme it has strong links with local education and training establishments, and provides considerable resources to support their activities.
Health And Safety
The BEL group operates under the mantra "Work Safe be Safe". The group is committed to continually reinforcing a culture whereby every employee thinks about how to perform a task safely before starting. Any accident is reported to the Health & Safety Department and details of it are then circulated to all managers in the group following a thorough investigation to ensure corrective actions have been taken to prevent a reoccurrence.
In addition to instilling a safety first culture into the organisation, a full time Health & Safety specialist is employed. This ensures risk assessments exist for all activities and that potential risks are either engineered out of the process or minimised through alternate working practices.
Group Values
Supporting all that we do BEL operates with a set of key principles:
- Integrity
- Customer Focus
- Commitment to Performance
- Teamwork
- Learn, Develop and Reward
- Social Responsibility
